MELBOURNE & LISMORE LUBRICANT SHOWS ANNOUCED

 

SUPER excited to announce the Melbourne dates for the LUBRICANT Australian Tour!

Two stellar lineups over two nights, personally I'm pretty excited about new kids on the block Spotting. They played a killer first show last Sunday at Catfood Press, a fresh hit of fem fronted catchy synth punk playing the Thursday show at Bar Open. Also very stoked on the reappearance of the legendary Finnish hardcore punks HAVITTAJAT, playing the Friday night show at Hotshits in Footscray.

GIRLS RADIO OFFENSIVE DJ GUEST SPOT 22/2

So I realize it's after the fact, but this past Monday night I (Tessa) was a guest DJ on the awesome Girls Radio Offensive radio show on local activist Melbourne radio station 3CR (855AM)

Bit of a mixed playlist with punk, post punk, coldwave, rock n roll & goth from artists all featuring fem members from all over the world, as well as little tribute to the late and great anarcho-feminist Vi Subversa from Poison Girls.

The show talked about the No Pride In Prisons Intervention at the Aotearoa/New Zealand corporate pride march and the connotations of corporate "pink washing" as well as the limitations of the #letthemstay movement and coverage of the current situation in Northern Kurdistan.

girls radio offensive plays punk music with a focus on wimmin in punk as an underrepresented category in the punk community. we discuss issues around race and colonisation, white supremacy, anti-capitalism, patriarchy and gender, feminism. we focus on news and current events particularly from australia. we talk about DIY communities and social spaces, anti-authoritarian struggle, resistance and etc.

PRISON (DENMARK) S/T LP ADDED TO DISTRO

A last minute arrival to the distro, the new LP from Danish based "queer migrant punk" 3 piece PRISON. I had the privilge of touring with these guys in 2014 when I filled in on bass for Nervous Trend on their European tour, they are hands down one of the best synthy/coldwave/post punk bands going around right now. They blend uniquely sweet pop hooks with some really powerful vocal lines, all whilst being fiecrely driven and political in a quite poetic way in the singer Zosia's lyrics, sometimes in English and sometimes in Polish. The visuals of this LP are also really beautiful, featuring (and not well captured in my photo unfortunately) a silver reflective cover, two types of coloured vinyl, a poster and matching glittery lyrics sheet.

Stand out tracks for me are Laura (a homage to Twin Peaks) & Depresja

NEW SCAB EATER, LAKES, TERRIBLE TRUTHS, ANNEX & TEUTON ADDED TO DISTRO

Some exciting new Australian releases in the distro, personally I've been eagerly awaiting the new Scab Eater 7" and it did NOT disappoint... and I'm calling it, easily the best Australian punk release this year. The Terrible Truths new LP has also been ruling my life a bit lately, I don't much delve into the world of "indie" but this is definitely more on the brooding post punk of side of indie with a Gang of Four vibe about it.

LUBRICANT 2016 AUSTRALIAN TOUR

NGM RECORDS & LOST IN FOG are proud to bring to our shores one of the most powerful and aggressive bands playing hardcore punk in the modern day; Singapore's very own LUBRICANT.

This lot of miscreants have honed their chops in such bands as VAARALLINEN, DAILY RITUAL, SARABANTE (Greece) & ABRASION, they released a demo tape in 2015 that is a sheer force to be reckoned with, they'll be following that up with a brand new cassette for this tour out through LOST IN FOG - you can hear the comparison's between modern bands such as AJAX, BLAZING EYE or MERCY KILLINGS, y'know the one's who are taking this classic 80's template of raging hardcore that all wore spikey jackets and played ridiculously to the brink of their abilities but then expanding on it, making it a modern beast and while these are good points of reference, it's no clone or a copy, bands from this part of the world play hard as all hell whether anyone is watching or not and that's what make's the difference in the end.

LUBRICANT are going to leave a filthy mess of mangled bodies all over this barren land and here's where they are going to do so.
